Learning with Purpose

Gifted and Talented students at Alkimos College learn alongside like-minded, like-ability peers in English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities, guided by expert teachers who receive Gifted and Talented professional learning.

Our program is academically rigorous and designed to extend, enrich, and inspire. Educators use:

· Curriculum compacting to accelerate progress

· Extension projects to deepen understanding

· Enrichment opportunities to broaden experiences

· Inquiry and project-based learning to spark creativity

Personalised Support

We understand that giftedness can take many forms — and sometimes presents unique challenges. Some learners may be Twice Exceptional (2E) or experience periods of underachievement or disengagement.

Our GAT Coordinator, specialist teachers, Learning Support, and Student Services staff work together to provide a holistic network of care.

Support may include:

· Individualised Education Plans (IEPs)

· Mentoring and socialisation programs

· Tailored enrichment pathways

· Provision of Education Assistant and Learning Support

How to Apply

Students are selected based on the results of the Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET). The college has been selected as a testing venue for the Year 7 intake and this will be in Term 1 in 2026 for the 2027 intake. The Department will provide further details to those applicable.

Applications for testing are now OPEN for entry into the Alkimos College selective Academic Gifted and Talented program for the 2027 Year 7 and Year 9  intake. Applications close on Friday 6 February 2026.

Late applications can only be considered under exceptional and extenuating circumstances.
